The outpatient block has OPD on the ground floor and the administrative office on the first floor.
We have a tin roof in front of the OPD as a patient's waiting area. During the present monsoon, rainwater started seeping into the outpatient’s rooms from the sunshades.
We plan to remove all the old concrete sunshades and extend the tin roof of the patient waiting area to the side walls of the outpatient building.
We also plan to replace the existing cement floor with anti-skid tiles.
We also plan to purchase new chairs for patients in the waiting room.
We see around 70 patients on OP days. The waiting area is around 1,800 square feet.
The cost of the above project will be around INR 8,00,000/-.
There is no public bus stop for our hospital. The bus stops in front of our gate for passengers. When the weather is extreme, patients waiting for the bus do so without a shelter.
The local panchayat has requested a bus stop for passengers and has earmarked a site for the bus stop.
The bus stop will be 20 feet X 10 feet (200 square feet) and will cost around INR 6,00,000/-.
All our patient wards and buildings are on our south campus. The north campus houses staff quarters, a goat farm, a piggery, a historium, and agricultural land.
We have a frontage of around 200 feet on the main road. We plan to build commercial shops for rent along our boundary wall.
This will be a source of income for our hospital.
The size of each shop is 15 feet X 20 feet = 300 square feet. The cost is INR 2,000/- per sq. ft. (INR 6,00,000/- for one shop).
Depending on the availability of funds, we will construct shops accordingly. We plan to build around 10 such shops.
We have a goat farm on our hospital campus. We have around 20 Pairs of goats. We use this goat farm to train our patients in goat farming.
We gift a pair of goats to these patients as part of occupational rehabilitation. We grow special grass for these goats within our campus.
The present shed of the goat farm is dilapidated, and the boundary walls are broken.
We plan to build a new modern shed, with a concrete floor and wire fencing of around 10,000 sq. feet. around the shed. This will also include a shed for our grass-cutting machines.
The approximate cost of constructing a new goat farm is around INR 7,00,000/-.
There is ongoing agricultural work and a coconut plantation at the Rehabilitation Centre. We are planning on starting an old-age home or a dedicated psychiatric admission centre based on the need.
The old rehabilitation centre is a 10,000 square feet structure with large rooms. It was used earlier to rehabilitate cured leprosy patients by teaching them various crafts and skills. The building is quite dilapidated now and is in need of renovation.
The total cost of renovation is around INR 80,00,000/.
The doctor’s quarters were built to accommodate doctors and visiting dignitaries in the year 1967. It is quite old now.
It is one of the three identical structures built by Dr.Rathnam Vedabodakam.
1. St.Luke’s Hospital, Nazareth, Doctors' quarters.
2. St.Luke’s Leprosarium, Peikulam, Doctors' quarters.
3. His own house in Nazareth, which was built in 1943.
The building needs replastering of the walls and roof repair. Depending on the availability of funds, new floor tiling can also be planned, along with plumbing and wiring.
The cost of renovation is around INR 15,00,000/-.
